I played 2 years of non-competetive Ultimate in Portland (intramurals, pick-up), and then started a competetive men’s team for the 2005-2006 year. I immersed myself deeper and deeper into the world of Ultimate. I simply couldn’t get enough. Small college tournaments were good, and so were the more laid-back summer mixed tournaments, but I wanted to take the next step.
In coming to Pitt as a grad student, I did my homework in more ways than one, and knew that this team had gone to nationals the last two years. I wanted to be a part of it. I was so excited, I could hardly wait. When I bought my Sabah discs at the activities fair, it was like Christmas.
So now, here I am. The last five months have been quite an experience for me. It has been a lot of fun, of course, but also frustrating at times, and has been a great learning experience. I want to become the best Ultimate player I can be, but more than that, I want to help this team be great. I want to give Sabah everything I have to give. I want to win 100 college championships in a row. Dream big, work hard, want it.
